IEPF Follow-up Guide
IEPF Claim Status, Delays and Resubmission: What to Check
Understand IEPF claim status, company verification, common delay points and how to answer a resubmission or clarification request carefully.
01
Understand the stages behind a status message
After Form IEPF-5 is submitted, an SRN is generated. The claimant then completes the document and dispatch steps required by the current webform process. The company or bank examines the claim and files its e-verification report; the IEPF Authority processes the claim using that report and the records available to it.
A status message is easier to interpret when you know which party currently has to act. Check the MCA application history or claimant dashboard, the company or RTA acknowledgement and any email sent by the Nodal Officer or Authority.
02
Common reasons a claim stops moving
Delay often follows an undelivered document packet, an incomplete dispatch update, a mismatch in claimant or demat details, missing succession evidence, a company record that has not been reconciled, or a clarification waiting for response. Company name changes and old folios can also take longer to verify.
- Supporting documents not received or not linked to the SRN
- Different spelling or order of names across the claim and records
- Demat or bank account not held in the claimant's matching name
- Unclear folio, quantity, dividend year or corporate-action history
- Incomplete nominee, legal-heir or transmission documentation
03
How to answer a resubmission or clarification
Read every observation and create a numbered response. Correct the stated field or attach the document that addresses that point. If the company record itself differs, obtain written reconciliation from the company or RTA rather than changing the claim without evidence.
Keep within the response period shown in the portal or communication. Preserve the earlier submission, the revised material and proof of response. Avoid creating another pending IEPF-5 for the same folio without checking the status and official instructions.
04
A focused escalation trail
Start with the company's Nodal Officer or RTA and quote the SRN, folio and delivery proof. Ask what verification point is outstanding. If the matter remains unresolved, use the official grievance or helpdesk channel appropriate to the stage and attach a short chronology rather than an unstructured bundle.
Processing time varies with entitlement, company verification and Authority review. A service provider can organise follow-up, but no one can guarantee approval or a fixed credit date.
Frequently asked questions
Questions investors often ask.
Where is the IEPF-5 SRN used?
The SRN identifies the filed form and is used for application history, correspondence and linking the claim with company verification.
Should I file a new IEPF-5 if the first claim is delayed?
Do not create a duplicate pending claim without checking the existing status and official instructions. First identify the outstanding action or deficiency.
Can someone guarantee an IEPF claim approval date?
No. Timing depends on the facts, document verification, the company or RTA and the IEPF Authority's processing.
